Butterick 4549

As I tend to do with patterns I love I have a few versions of this one.  I don’t really do muslins I just have earlier versions that don’t quite fit as well as my later ones.

Butterick 4549 is an easy sew once you are comfortable with the method of finishing armholes and necklines with bias binding.  It is great for anyone who wants to adjust the bust, waist or hips to suit as they are all easy to add to.  My advice would be to sew the size for your smallest measurement and add to the area where you need the extra room.

This was my first version which fits but is snug across my tummy.

There is a nice amount of gather under the bust and a flattering waist panel.

These were my second and third versions…

These were all made from cotton fabrics from Spotlight and I am really happy with them except for the last one. It was a really deep navy when I purchased but ran really badly when washed. It is a nice blue but not the navy I thought I was getting.

I increased the waist panels for a bit more ease across my tummy on the last two versions and lengthened them by an inch.  I think I have enough versions of this style for now but you never know…
