I had high hopes for this dress because all of the cool kids were making it and giving it rave reviews. This is my first make from the Mimi Style range and my general thoughts on the pattern are positive.
It was was a simple pattern to follow even though it was a fiddly, time consuming sew but that is because there are lots of beautiful details that take time and patience. It was drafted well and made up with the size true to my measurements with a nice amount of ease.
I made it up in a buttery yellow crepe which I think is a great weight for this pattern. My favourite features are the dainty collar and neckline, the rolled sleeves and the hidden buttons.
The gathering on the front and back yoke give a nice amount of ease over the bust and back and the drawstring waist sits where ever your natural waist falls.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the pattern and the way the dress sews up but I still think this is a style that I will have to fall in love with. I prefer dresses that fall into the put on and forget category and this is not one of those for me. I will be adjusting the way it sits on my waist and centering the way it sits on my shoulders. I would also be fiddling with the folding on the sleeves. I would probably make it again but only with the perfect fabric that would suit this style perfectly.
