This fabric was another Op Shop find. There wasn’t much of it so I had to use it on something basic. I have no idea what fabric this is, it is most definitely a synthetic, it is quite thick and most likely was some sort of decorator range from the 60’s or 70’s I think. It doesn’t crease and has horizontal stretch which is nice for the design I chose.
I felt like a quick sew when I made this one so I just laid out a rtw tee that fits well and cut the fabric with the shirt as the pattern. There were only two pieces for the front and back and the only thing I was conscious of was trying to line the narrow stripes up with my waistline. I need all of the help I can get!
There is no chance of this fabric fraying, so the hem, armholes and neckline were just a single fold and go. The only thing I should tinker with is the front neckline. It should be scooped out a little more to make it comfier but having a higher neckline is actually why I chose to wear it today. I have something yucky to do and tend to get flushed on the base of my neck when I’m stressed so this neckline is perfect for today.

I don’t think sewing needs to be any more complicated than that sometimes. If you feel like making something it’s okay to break all of the rules and get it done. I love planning and taking my time to enjoy most of my makes but this top was finished from start to finish in around an hour so sometimes that’s fun too!
