The pattern I have the most versions of in my wardrobe is Simplicity 4177. At the moment I have four long sleeve versions and four short sleeve versions of this one pattern.
It is the most comfortable shirt to wear! I love that the pattern works for knits and wovens and I can change the look of the shirt by tightening the draw string cord for a smaller neckline when I am wearing to school for work or a looser neckline that sits wider on your shoulders if I am wearing casually.
I have finished sleeves or the neckline with a frill to add some interest but the pattern is flattering just as is. This is a great style for anyone with a full bust, it sits really nicely on your chest and is comfortable with room to move while maintaining your dignity.
This is a quick, easy sew as there are only six pieces and no extras needed. I have made a seam down the centre back on one version to work with the fabric that I was upcycling. The only alterations I have made are to increase the length to make it reach over the waistband of pants, shorts or skirts.
Clear, simple instructions makes this a winner and a great start for beginner sewers.
